Deepika Padukone revealed that she and Ranveer Singh had the freedom to date other people “until he proposed.” She explained that there was no formal commitment between them until he proposed. This insight provides a glimpse into their relationship dynamics before their engagement.

During their appearance on the premiere episode of Koffee with Karan Season 8, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh discussed the early stages of their relationship. They mentioned that they were “technically allowed” to date other people, but they kept gravitating toward each other. Their first meeting occurred during the production of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela,” where Ranveer was captivated by Deepika, and they experienced a “moment of spark” for the first time.

When asked when they officially began dating after their initial meeting, Ranveer responded with “the next day,” and Deepika added that there was no gap between their first meeting and dating. Deepika explained that at the time, she was single, while Ranveer had just ended a previous relationship. She mentioned that she was hesitant to enter into a committed relationship due to her previous difficult experiences, and even after they started dating, there was “no real commitment as such” until they got engaged.

Deepika said that even though they were “technically allowed” to date other people, they “would just keep coming back to each other.” She said, “I did meet other people, but I wasn’t interested or excited by anyone else that I was seeing. In my mind, I was committed to him. So I would meet other people but at the back of my head, it was like, I am going back to him.”

During the conversation, Ranveer mentioned that within the first six months of their relationship, Deepika had “two or three other suitors” and that many guys were pursuing her. Deepika seemed surprised by his recollection and asked who these individuals were. Ranveer responded by saying, “You just said that you were seeing other people, but I would go back to him, but now you don’t remember?” Deepika insisted that she didn’t remember these people, but Ranveer was certain and emphasized that he remembered “very clearly.” Ranveer concluded by expressing his confidence that he was “the one” for Deepika and that she was “the one” for him within the first six months of their relationship.
