Jack Black’s affinity for Taylor Swift, affectionately known as a Swiftie, became evident when he surprised a live audience by belting out her Emmy Award-winning song “Anti-Hero” in nothing but his boxers.
A user on X (formerly Twitter) shared a video of Jack Black’s performance of “Anti-Hero” on Thursday. In the video, he can be seen shedding his outer clothing down to his boxers as the live audience enthusiastically cheers him on. Black then ventures into the crowd to engage with them and invites song requests. When someone suggests “Anti-Hero,” he responds with a confident, “I know that. Everyone knows that song.” He proceeds to sing “Anti-Hero” as the crowd’s cheers grow even louder. However, he eventually loses track of the lyrics and continues singing in gibberish, all while maintaining the same tune.
Jack Black’s performance took place at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. The event is called the Give Back-ular Spectacular! Show was organized on Wednesday to raise funds for film and TV crew members affected by the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. Several other notable celebrities also performed at the event, including Dax Shepard, Jeremy Allen White, Bryan Cranston, Lily Tomlin, Halle Berry, and Rachel Bloom.
The SAG-AFTRA strike has been ongoing for more than 100 days. While negotiations have resumed between the studios and the acting body, the actors have stood firm and have not accepted the studios’ latest offer. Jack Black has been actively involved, participating in picketing lines at multiple locations in recent months, including one occasion where he wore a “SAG-AFTRA Strong” T-shirt.
Jack Black is set to lend his voice to the titular character in Mike Mitchell’s animated action comedy, Kung Fu Panda 4, which is scheduled for release in the United States on March 8, 2024. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift recently released the re-recorded version of her album 1989, featuring five new tracks from The Vault.
