Stormy Symphony: IMD Sounds the Alarm! Heavy Rain Dances Across These States Today

Today’s weather update brings news of the ongoing heavy rains in the southern states of India, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry, due to the Northeast Monsoon. The persistent rainfall has led to severe waterlogging in many areas, making life unsafe for residents. Landslides have also been reported in various locations. The Meteorological Department predicts that these states will continue to experience heavy rain, with many districts in Tamil Nadu still facing intense rainfall today.

As a precautionary measure, schools in several districts of Tamil Nadu have been closed. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for these states. According to their report, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on November 14th, with rainfall ranging between 115.6 to 204.5 mm.

The Meteorological Department has also warned of the possibility of lightning and storms in these regions. In a Twitter update, they stated, “Orange Alert! Coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on November 13 and 14. During this period, rainfall in these areas may range from 115.6 to 204.4 mm. Light to moderate rain may occur in many areas on November 14. At the same time, storm and lightning have also been predicted at many places.”

Specific districts in Tamil Nadu, such as Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, and Kanchipuram, are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. Additionally, there is a risk of torrential rain in various places across Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvallur, Chennai, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Tiruchirappalli, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Mayiladuthurai districts.
