Tragedy struck in Texas as eight individuals lost their lives in a fatal crash following a police pursuit of a suspected human smuggler.

Tragedy unfolded in South Texas on Wednesday, resulting in the loss of at least eight lives. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. as a driver, suspected of smuggling migrants, attempted to evade deputies from the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office while operating a 2009 Honda Civic carrying migrants. In a bid to overtake a semi-truck on a two-lane road, the Civic collided with a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
